The VA Summary of Benefits Letter — correctly downloaded — is accepted for every veteran DMV benefit in all 50 states. Here’s how in 5 minutes.
Go to VA.gov and sign in with your ID.me, DS Logon, or My HealtheVet account. This is the only source DMV offices accept.
Navigate to My VA → Records → Download your benefit letters. Select “Benefit Summary and Service Verification Letter” specifically — not the Award Letter.
Click “Customize this letter” and check the box that includes your disability rating percentage. Without this, the letter is rejected at most DMV offices.
Download and print the PDF. Download a fresh copy for every application — letters older than 12 months are rejected at many DMV offices.
